Ronen Schwartzman, MBA, Chief Investment Officer
Ronen Schwartzman joined the Cooper Family Office as Chief Investment Officer with 20 years of investment and capital markets experience. He started his career as an equity analyst with Oppenheimer where he covered small cap technology stocks. After receiving his MBA from the Wharton School – University of Pennsylvania, Ronen joined Bear Stearns, where he managed equity and fixed income portfolios for individuals and corporations, and also advised institutional investors on various capital markets investments. Ronen specialized in investing in alternative assets such as hedge funds, private credit, private equity, and real estate. A former Special Operations Intelligence Officer in the Israeli Air Force, Ronen is fluent in Spanish and Hebrew. Ronen is often quoted in The Economist, Reuters and Bloomberg News. A guest lecturer at The Wharton School and NYU Stern School of Business and a frequent speaker at industry conferences, Ronen is a noted thought leader in the hedge fund and family office communities.
Skip Cooper, Managing Director
In honor and loving memory of Skip Cooper, who was a first-generation member of the Cooper Family Office. Skip oversaw risk management, portfolio allocation, and back-office operations. In addition to the office’s U.S.-based alternative investing, his primary focus for the family office was international investments in private equity, funds, real estate, and direct opportunities. Mr. Cooper was an honors graduate of Princeton University. Skip Cooper was a member of the NYU Stern Family Office Council and the Stanford University Global Projects Center Global Investors’ Forum. He spoke regularly at family office and investment conferences around the world, often addressing the topic of global investing for U.S. family offices.
Hugh Ross – Chief Operating Officer
Hugh joined the Cooper Family Office as Chief Operating Officer with over 30 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining the Cooper Family Office, Hugh was the Chief Operating Officer of Grayscale Investments, a leading crypto-asset investment manager, where he was responsible for the company’s Operations, Technology and Human Resources teams, as well as providing strategic leadership across the firm. Prior to Grayscale, Hugh served as Chief Operating Officer of Horizon Kinetics, a New York based investment manager, where he was broadly responsible for the firm’s operating infrastructure, including its functions within Operations, Technology, Finance, Product Development, and Human Resources, as well as serving as point person with respect to the firm’s crypto-asset initiatives.
Prior to Horizon Kinetics, Hugh was a Vice-President with Goldman Sachs & Co. where he served as Chief Operating Officer of its long-only investment manager research team, then-known as Global Manager Strategies (GMS), within Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) and the firm’s Investment Management Division. In this role, he was responsible for the non-investment due diligence process with respect to all long-only, third-party investment managers, as well as the operational integrity of GSAM’s long-only, third-party manager, separately managed accounts platform and private investment funds. In his initial role at Goldman, Hugh served as a compliance officer for both GSAM and Goldman’s Private Wealth Management business.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Hugh worked as an in-house counsel for a transfer agent, and started his career as securities industry attorney representing broker/dealers and investment advisers. Hugh received a BBA from Emory University, a JD from New York Law School, is a licensed attorney in the states of New York and New Jersey, and holds the Series 7, 14, 24, 63, 99 and SIE licenses.
